FAQs

What conditions do you treat?

I specialize in diagnosing and treating a range of mental health concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, mood disorders, and psychotic disorders. I have a particular passion for distinguishing between ADHD, ASD, and giftedness in children and adults.

Do you see adults, or just children?

I treat both children and adults, with a focus on family-centered care.

Do you prescribe medication?

Yes, when appropriate. Medication can be a valuable tool, but it’s not the only solution. I take a holistic approach, considering all aspects of well-being before recommending treatment.

Do you offer therapy, or just medication management?

I am not a therapist; I am a psychiatric physician assistant responsible for evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, typically through medication management. Treatment involves therapy-informed psychiatric care, but I do not offer stand-alone therapy. When needed, I will refer you to a therapist who aligns with your goals.

What if I don’t want medication?

Then we agree. I focus on collaborative care, offering education, lifestyle strategies, and therapy-based techniques. Medication is only recommended when your symptoms are severe enough to inhibit progress with these practical interventions. Nevertheless, it can be a powerful tool to provide the stability needed to address the underlying concerns.

How do I know if I need an evaluation?

If you're experiencing ongoing challenges with depression, anxiety, attention issues, or mood and behavioral instability that disrupt your daily life, it might be time for an evaluation. An evaluation helps identify any underlying conditions and guides you toward a personalized treatment plan. That plan may include therapy, lifestyle adjustments, or medication. Even if you're unsure, speaking with a provider can bring clarity and direction. We also offer a free 10-minute consultation to see if our services are appropriate for you. Schedule below.

How do I know if my child needs an evaluation?

If your child struggles with attention, emotional regulation, social interactions, or learning differences, or you are having difficulty with the uncertainty of parenting, an evaluation can provide clarity and guidance for the best path forward.

What should I expect at the first appointment?

The first visit is a comprehensive evaluation where we discuss your concerns, overall history, and personal goals. This typically takes at least 1 hour to complete. From there, we’ll develop a tailored treatment plan together, which may or may not include medications. For ADHD, additional testing may be advised to further refine the diagnosis.

Do you accept insurance?

We are currently pursuing the top insurance providers in the area and have confirmed agreements with Aetna, Ambetter, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna/Evernorth, Humana, MedCost, Optum, United, Medicaid, Medicare, and Wellcare. We also offer self-pay services. We have pending agreements with Tricare and select Medicaid plans.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes, I primarily provide telehealth appointments. There are certain circumstances that require an in-person appointment, such as starting a controlled substance. We will arrange in-person visits when necessary.

Do you offer LGBTQ+ affirming care?

Yes. We welcome people of all gender identities and sexual orientations. You deserve to feel safe, respected, and understood, and that’s the environment we aim to provide for all patients.
