Local NC Mental Health Crisis Services

If you or someone you care about is experiencing a mental health crisis, help is available. The services listed here are not part of Wendell Psychiatry but are trusted resources in our community, offering immediate support when you're in distress or need urgent care.

When to Seek Crisis Help

Crisis support may be appropriate if you are:

  • Having thoughts of hurting yourself or others

  • Feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or other intense emotions

  • Experiencing a sudden change in behavior, sleep, or thinking

  • Unable to function in your daily life due to emotional distress

  • Hearing or seeing things that others do not

If this is a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Department.

Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC)

When you have a non-life-threatening medical emergency, you may go to an urgent care center to avoid the ER. Behavioral Health Urgent Cares (BHUCs) serve the same role for mental health emergencies. These clinics provide walk-in evaluation, treatment, and referrals—often avoiding the need for emergency department visits.

If your condition includes serious medical concerns (such as injury, overdose, or ingestion), call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

You can also call 988 to find the nearest BHUC in your area.
